DC FULL FORM IN MOVIE– A LARGE 10-TITLE LINEUP FOR THE UPCOMING FEW YEARS HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED BY NEW DC LEADS JAMES GUNN AND PETER SAFRAN, COMBINING FIVE FEATURE FILMS AND FIVE TV SERIES IN ONE STORYTELLING CONTINUITY.

DC Comics combined their made-up Multiverse into a single, ostensibly logical realm in 1985. Many years later, the publishing business would revive the Multiverse, inspiring DC Films to embrace the idea as an overarching narrative framework for its slate of movies and the ongoing series from Warner Bros. Television, including The Flash and Pennyworth. However, the parent business of DC Films was sold to Discovery, Inc. before the strategy could truly get going, and the DC production company was reformed into DC Studios with The Suicide Squad director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran as its co-CEOs.

The united Warner Bros. Discovery organization gave them the first instruction to forgo the Multiverse in favor of creating a logical, consistent DC live-action universe. Consider it a “Shadow Crisis” that grew worse when DC film and TV projects were shelved in the latter half of 2022 and Gunn kept promising fans that he and Safran will soon reveal a strategy for DC Studios.

They unveiled the first section of their scheme on January 31, 2023. The DC Cinematic Universe’s “gods and monsters” will be the main topic of “Chapter One,” which will ostensibly be referred to as the DCU. The strategy is ambitious, giving equal screen time to Superman, Batman, and lesser-known characters. Oh, and the three films that the previous administration still hasn’t released.

The establishment of DC Studios and the Chapter One strategy are the most recent shockwaves in the frequently unbelievable tale of Warner Bros.’attempts to adapt the DC Comics characters for the big screen. Therefore, let’s go back to the beginning of Warner Bros. Pictures’ aspirations for its extended universe before we look at the most recent adjustments to its film calendar.

A number of films based on DC Comics characters were announced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment in 2014. A two-part Justice League project and at least two movies per year through 2020 were both on the original agenda. The Justice League tale had to be condensed into one movie, while other endeavors, like the Flash feature film, were constantly delayed.

The initial 2014 master plan has largely been carried through, with only 2018 lacking a second DC-based feature and Cyborg leaving entirely. This is despite projects shifting about the calendar and the negative reviews of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Additionally, the studio never gave up trying to launch new projects employing the comic book characters and the universe created by 2013’s Man of Steel, even while films like Aquaman and Shazam! entered production. The sequels to Aquaman and Shazam, the final two items on that original schedule, are released in 2023. And the DCU will restart in 2024 after a break.

The following summarizes all the information we are aware of regarding the upcoming and in-development DC Studios movies, as well as a few DC adaptations that will take place outside of the DC universe. (Are you curious about what the other camp has planned? See our analysis of the impending Marvel flicks.)

VERY SOON

Even with the DCU Chapter One plan, there are still many questions about which DC Comics characters will appear in these films, who will bring them, and in what order. However, nothing is known for certain concerning these films. They are currently in post-production, shooting, or are a part of the new direction, and we are aware of their specific release date! (At least, we are aware of the most recent dates and will update as necessary.)

JOKER 2 – DC full form in movie

JOKER 2 – DC full form in movie

Release Date: 04, Oct 2024

What We Know: The success of the original Joker made a sequel inevitable, but information was scant until 2020. News of the project’s continued development and unexpected new connection to the greater DC Multiverse first surfaced in May 2021. Joker: Folie à deux is the title of the upcoming movie from director Todd Philipps and star Joaquin Phoenix, who announced their reunion by uploading a picture of the script’s cover page on social media. The phrase refers to two or more persons who have comparable mental illnesses, which has many people wondering if the sequel will include a Harley Quinn portrayal by Phillips.

In the days that followed, Lady Gaga’s name started to surface as the Joker’s probable sidekick, and the movie was also promoted as a musical, providing a New York, New York contrast to Taxi Driver from the previous movie. The movie’s release date, October 4, 2024, was revealed in August 2022. In the following months, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey joined the cast, and the only other actor to do so (besides Phoenix) was Zazie Beetz, who also announced a return.

How It Integrates With the DCU: There isn’t. The movie will be regarded as a “Elseworlds” release, as Safran explained in January 2023. The phrase, which was taken from DC Comics’ response to Marvel’s What If…?, will be used to describe any movie, television program, or animated production that is set outside of the core DCU. Although it is not yet apparent if there will be noticeable branding to distinguish between the two, the difference is significant. Additionally, because Elseworlds is a well-known brand, DC Studios may always create variants of its characters without worrying about continuity or crossovers. This presumably means Phoenix will never serve as the DC Universe’s Joker.

SUPERMAN : LEGACY – DC full form in movie

SUPERMAN : LEGACY – DC full form in movie

Release Date: 11, July 2025

What We Know: As stated in the January 2023 announcements, Gunn is penning the script for Superman: Legacy, the debut film of the new DC Universe. Although it won’t be an origin story, it will show a youthful Clark Kent balancing his Kansas background with his Kryptonian heritage. The trigger may be anything, such as the arrival of other Kryptonian survivors in Earth orbit or Clark becoming influenced by a Kryptonian artifact. After giving it some thought, Gunn said in March 2023 that he would be the film’s director.

How It Fits Into the DC Multiverse: According to Gunn, the Superman who makes his screen debut in Legacy will be the one that appears in later DC Studios movies, TV shows, video games, and animation productions. Whoever gets cast as the Man of Steel will have a very busy 2035 because they have a 10-year(!) contract with DC. We also anticipate that Clark will run into more Kryptonians while trying to reconcile his Kryptonian ancestry. even one deserving of their own movie.

THE BATMAN PART 2

THE BATMAN PART 2

Release Date: 03, Oct 2025 – DC full form in movie

What We Know: Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, and Robert Pattinson, the film’s actor, revealed in April 2022 that they would be returning for “the next chapter.” No additional information is known, although rumors suggest that the film will introduce a Robin, the Court of Owls, an elite group of Gotham citizens, and Hush, a villain who was (kind of) foreshadowed in The Batman. Additionally, we may assume that Bruce’s (Pattinson) efforts to establish a public persona as well as the reconstruction of Gotham City will be major story points. Gunn and Safran announced the movie’s anticipated release date and that a third movie will be made to fill out the planned trilogy in January 2023.

How It Fits in the DCU: This will be an Elseworlds project unrelated to the DCU, much like the Joker sequel. The same probably applies to the several TV shows that are going to be set in the world of The Batman.

SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW – DC full form in movie

SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW – DC full form in movie

Release Date : TBD

What We Know: According to rumors, the author of The Cloverfield Paradox, Oren Uziel, was working on a script based on the Girl of Steel. It was intended to ignore the television series on The CW and tell its own version of Kara Zor-El’s first few days as a superhero on Earth, much like The Flash movie. Sasha Calle from The Young and the Restless was cast as Kara in the February 2021 episode of The Flash with the purpose of playing the lead role in Uziel’s Supergirl.

She may or may not move on to Chapter One’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the project’s revamped iteration. The film, which Gunn and Safran announced in January 2023, will be based on author Tom King’s most current Supergirl series and will present an unexpectedly unique portrayal of Kara Zor-El.

How It Fits in the DCU: If one of our theories regarding Superman: Legacy pans out, it’s feasible that we’ll first encounter this Kara in that movie before she takes to the skies on her own.

THE AUTHORITY – DC full form in movie

THE AUTHORITY – DC full form in movie

Release Date : TBD

What We Know: The Authority, a group of superhuman people who were originally employed by a covert government agency, will be the focus of this Chapter One movie, which is based on the WildStorm series of the same name. They determine on their own that the best way to stop supervillainy is by devastating preemptive strikes. But it’s unclear how well they’ll fare in a DCU that aims to be more upbeat and optimistic given that they serve as a critique of the more fascistic aspects of superhero teams like The Avengers and the Justice League.

How It Fits in the DC Universe: The Authority is an invasive species, just like their roots in comic books. Given that, as we’ve already mentioned, the characters are a lot of fun, the contrast between them and mainstream DC may be quite fascinating. They could also be one of Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) side ventures, though.

THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD – DC full form in movie

THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD – DC full form in movie

Release Date : TBD – DC full form in movie

What We Know: This Chapter One project, which is based on writer Grant Morrison’s writings for Batman and Batman Inc., will introduce the Dark Knight’s Batman and his son Damian Wayne in a “unusual father-son story.” The project will also include appearances from a few of the Batfamily’s other members. Talia Al Ghul, Damian’s mother, is also anticipated to appear. Gunn hinted that a writer might already be on board to develop the idea into a script in March 2023.

Damian is the fifth youngster to wear the Robin outfit, thus it’s feasible that some of his predecessors will make an appearance. And at this point, we’d really like to see Stephanie Brown (aka The Spoiler), Jason Todd (as Red Hood), Dick Grayson (aka Nightwing), and Tim Drake (aka Red Robin) find some footing in this new DC reality.

SWAMP THING – DC full form in movie

SWAMP THING – DC full form in movie

Release Date : TBD

What We Know: According to a press statement from Warner Bros., this Chapter One project is a look into the character’s “dark origins,” and it may end up becoming the first movie in the long-awaited dark section of the DC Universe.

How It Fits in the DCU: Attempts to include some of Swampy’s Justice League Dark comrades have failed for many years. The movie might serve as an introduction to the DCU’s mystical and magical components.

CONSTANTINE 2DC full form in movie

CONSTANTINE 2

Release Date : TBD

What We Know: Keanu Reeves intends to reprise his role as John Constantine in an extremely stunning turn of events. In September 2022, it was confirmed that the actor will work once more with Francis Lawrence, who had previously directed the 2005 film Constantine. Akiva Goldsman would write the script. According to Lawrence, he will aim for an R-rating. The movie is most likely the only DC project that J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot has completed since it started producing them for both film and television several years ago.

How It Fits Into The DCU: Since it wasn’t included on the DCU schedule that was first revealed in early 2023, the movie is most likely an Elseworlds endeavor that continues in the first movie’s reality.
