Once the WGA strike was over, Gunn said in response to a fan on Threads that he should be able to offer more information about the DC Universe in “the not-too-distant future.” Since I haven’t been able to speak with our writers throughout this time, he said, “I don’t even know where we are with things.” “Even though I’m delighted with the conclusion, the strike was undoubtedly a hindrance to it, so I’ll need to wait a few weeks to see how things stand. But yes, I anticipate there will be more information available soon.”
Given that the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) is still on strike, Gunn’s announcements are likely to concern the addition of directors and/or writers to specific projects. Only Superman: Legacy (which Gunn wrote and directed), Swamp Thing (which James Mangold wrote and directed), The Brave and the Bold (which Andy Muschietti directed), Creature Commandos (which Gunn showran), and Waller (which Christal Henry and Jeremy Carver showran) have at least one of those roles filled as of the time of writing.

How Does Canon Work in the DCU Announcements?

At of this writing, Gunn has identified four actors from the DC Extended Universe who will reprise their roles in the upcoming DCU: Freddie Stroma, Viola Davis, John Cena, and Peacemaker from the DC Extended Universe (Vigilante). Gunn has stated in the aforementioned statements that even though these actors are returning, they will all be portraying new iterations of their respective characters that may or may not be identical to the ones they played in the DC Extended Universe.
