In the video game Spider-Man Remastered, the movie poster for Spider-Man 2 has been restored. In the 2004 film Spider-Man 2, Tobey Maguire played Spider-Man, who had to battle Doctor Octopus. A movie poster features Spider-Man hovering over the skyline of New York City, surrounded by two of Doc Ock’s mechanical tentacles.

There was controversy as well as admiration for Spider-Man Remastered. Marvel’s Spider-Man, a 2018 video game, was upgraded and released with enhanced visuals and frame rate along with a new look for Peter Parker. Both the original version and the remastered version of the game are still well-liked despite the controversy around the facial modification. The player battles crime while swinging around New York City as Spider-Man. Doc Ock, a mentor who later turned enemy, is one of the key antagonists the player faces throughout the game.

Playing Spider-Man Remastered, Twitter user RockRider, a fan of the Spider-Man series, recreated the iconic Spider-Man 2 movie poster. Fighting Doc Ock over the towers of New York City allowed RockRider to get into an almost identical pose to that of Spider-Man in the infamous movie poster. He was able to capture Doc Ock’s mechanical arms in almost the exact same pose as the arms on the Spider-Man 2 movie poster using a little bit of timing magic. According to RockRider, the position of his unaltered Spider-Man in the game is the original one. The buildings, the background sky, and Doc Ock’s arms were all individual in-game images that were altered with color and tone adjustments.

RockRider created the fake movie poster by combining the Spider-Man stance with the three altered in-game images.

There are further pieces of in-game modified fan art besides RockRider’s movie poster. Digital artists were swiping faces to create a new appearance for Spider-Man when word spread about the remake of Spider-Man’s face. In fact, a gifted digital artist created a Spider-Man that looked like Chris Evans by fusing the face from Spider-Man Remastered with the original Marvel Spider-Man visage. Still, Insomniac Games, the game’s developer, has taken notice of RockRider’s Spider-Man 2 movie poster. “Wow, another awesome poster recreation from Rock!” was the remark left on RockRider’s post by Insomniac Games on Twitter.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the Insomniac sequel to the remastered edition, is presently under production, as was disclosed during the PlayStation Showcase. This new game, which is scheduled for release in 2023, will have Miles Morales and Peter Parker joining up as Kraven and Venom. Digital fan art such to RockRider’s work from Spider-Man Remastered is anticipated by fans of the Spider-Man franchise, given the buzz surrounding this new game and its stunning graphics.
